noch nie wurde die geschichte des edlen naturverbundenen wilden im kampf gegen zivilisations-degenerierten materialistischen kolonialisten aufwendiger erzählt als im film avatar von james cameron.
aber: sie wurde schon oft erzählt. und so ist an der geschichte nichts neu. alles kommt einem vertraut und altbekannt vor. nur ist hier halt alles bunter, größer, dreidimensionaler. ich weiß, “dreidimensionaler” ist ein unwort. aber der riesenerfolg von avatar erklärt sich vor allem aus den technischen innovationen. so dreidimensional war kino noch nie! naja, wers nötig hat. mir geht’s am arsch vorbei. mir genügt die dreidimensionale illusion der normalen flachen leinwand.
da wär mir ein origineller gedanke bei dieser im grunde reaktionären “ach, wie hat uns der zivilisatorische fortschritt doch von unseren eigentlichen bedürfnissen und fähigkeiten entfremdet”-geschichte, mit der james cameron vermutlich seine eigene technik-verliebtheit kompensieren will, lieber gewesen.
trotzdem: obwohl sich der film zieht wie ein strudelteig - 166 minuten müssen erst einmal abgesessen werden - sehenswert ist er allemal. also: hirn auf sparflamme schalten, augen auf und rein ins kino, zumal ja die sonstigen weihnachts-neuerscheinungen auch eher schwächlich zu sein scheinen.
